About SMA Asia
SMA Asia is a strategic network of leaders of patient organisations and SMA communities from countries across Asia, whose goals are to improve disease awareness and sharing of information to enhance the standard of care, quality of life and access to treatment for persons living with SMA and their families.
Asia countries came together in 2019 to form an alliance to work for the interest of persons living with SMA.
MISSION
MISSION
SMA Asia seeks to foster closer collaboration, exchange of information and sharing of experiences with respective member countries (including but not limited to the following areas) for the purpose to:
1. enhance accessibility to effective and affordable treatment and therapeutic strategies including clinical trials.
2. enhance advocacy efforts to prioritise and actualise the interest of persons living with SMA in social and health policies.
3. create robust infrastructure across health sectors to introduce and improve Standard of Care Guidelines.
4. encourage optimal patient care to improve quality of life.

With diverse and very different cultures in Asia, understanding each other is key and unity is strength in optimising quality of care that is impactful to persons living with SMA and their families.
